GOOD bands without a bass

Sign in to disble this ad
This has probably been done before, but how many good bands are out there that have nobody on bass? (this excludes White Stripes because they are not good.) The only one that comes to my mind is Casanatra, but I bet there are others out there, especially with organs or Charlie Hunter guitars in them. Anybody?

I think the White Stripes are good, so I'll add them to my list. There's also some metal bands without bass (I only saw them on TV though, can't remember the names). The guitars are so heavy, you don't need bass. I often wonder what Meshuggah's bassist does.

Not a current example, but one of the hottest bands ever not to have a bass player per se was Tony Williams' original Lifetime, with Larry Young and John McLaughlin. Unbelievable playing.

I think Soulive should be mentioned again, in case anyone read the name but decided not to listen to them. They are awesome.
