Hiya guys
I ordered an ibanez case for my SR520 online, but it would appear they are out of stock.
I need one ASAP. So can anyone recommend a good hardcase for gigging.
Its gotta be light, coz I may be walking it home after a gig close to home.
Apart from that, i'm open to anything.
I've heard hiscox cases are rock solid.
Oh also, any links to online stores that sell them in the UK would be awesome!!!
Cheers guys

And they have great customer service, I bought this new (at the time) hard case from them and toured it and by the end of going through many airports it was falling apart, they replaced it for free with a new and improved design. |

I know why they put "Sadowsky" on the outside, but it just screams "Hi there, will you mug me?" Quote:

Or a gig bag with backpack straps (just watch out for low overhangs!)

My SKBs survived some light air travel [domestic flights] just fine. I duck taped the latches.
Traveling in a car, truck, etc-they're fine. In high school, I did marching band and show choir band. The bass was loaded onto the truck for marching band and rode in the under storage on the bus.
If you're looking for light weight case-I'd go for a gig bag or hybrid instead. I don't have any experience with the hybrids. Gig bags-I use a Mooradian Double Electric Bass bag that I bought from Sadowsky. Great case. I also use their Double Bass gig bag...worth every penny. I've been using these things heavily since 2004/2005. The Double Electric bag has had a seam come under on the outer pocket c/o me over loading it. That's it.
all the best.

| | | | I have a gig back already, and I dont really trust the fact that its just a bit of fabric protecting my bass.
So I wanna get a hard case, and if I have to walk anywhere, i'll swap out the gig bag.
I will check out SKB and Gator.
Has anyone got an Ibanez hard case? They do one for my bass, and it looks pretty sturdy. I think its the MB1000 or something... |

| | | | me again.
I've found a site in the UK selling SKB cases.
The delux one looks good, with nice latches.
Inside though, its made for a P/J bass. I have an ibanez SR520.
I'm a bit worried that mine might not go in there as snug as the picture depicts!
Anyone got an ibanez that fits OK in a generic case? |

I'd suggest putting the UK as Your location, so the folks know what is your preferred place to get it.
S*** Kicks Back has never been my choice on anything, too many crappy products. IME only of course.
Gator is decent and the Ibanez guitar case I have is constructed in a similar way (hate the styrox though). If You're bent on plastic cases, ABS as a material is the way to go as you can weld it back in shape if (when) something happens.
What about Your local music shops, they don't carry any ?
Thomann ships to UK and they have quite reasonable prices.

| | | | I recently recommended and SKB to a guy I teach. His Ibanez went in there without any problems.
Thommann(sp?) sell SKB, and ship cheap/fast to the UK. Prices are not as good as they were 6 months ago because of the Euro situation, but worth a look. |

| | | Right.
I think I want this one : http://www.thomann.de/gb/skb_44_case_ebass.htm
SKB44
The inside is molded to a fender shape, and my ibanez SR is a little bit smaller than that.
Anyone know if it'll fit?
i dont want it rattling around inside!!! |

SKB chronically misrepresents the durability of most (admittedly not all) of their products, with the net result being a case history of thousands of their products -- and more importantly, the case contents -- getting trashed during transit. If you don't know someone who's had the latches ripped off their SKB case, you've probably never stepped out of your house in the past 15 years.
Note: That wouldn't necessarily stop me from buying one of their products; it just tempers my illusions of what I can do with their products. |

| | | | I have a Gator hardcase for my classical Yamaha, and so far it has gone to Europe and back without any issues. Some people don't like Gators because they are more 'budget cases', but my ol' Yammy is still fine and healthy.
If you find a good deal, but the case is slightly bigger in cutout than your instrument (like mine is; it is made for a Jumbo), put a few wedges of acoustic foam along the instrument, and it will not move.

OP, why not buy the case that's most probably intended for Your bass? http://www.thomann.de/gb/ibanez_mb100c_ebasskoffer.htm
Quite a few of the "Fender" bass cases are not designed for angled headstocks and A & D tuners hit the bottom.
Putting loose padding around the edges won't be a wise in the long run. Velcroing them in place would be better, but might not work. Quote:

Didn't know about the Thermodyne, but everything else is spot on.
My experiences with SKB racks/cases has been so bad that It's a brand I won't consider. IIRC their ABS is (was) really difficult to weld and the feature that means A LOT in here, low temperature durability, is (was) poor. Also the rails come off easily and the latches, oh, the latches .
Gator cases has been better, for me at least. About all my equipment travels in hard/ATA cases though, I feel safer that way.
