Good bass-only "serenade" songs?

Sign in to disble this ad
Not necessarily love-dovey crap, just good, melodic, slow songs thats I can play on bass and sing to. For example, Tommy the Cat would not be a good suggestion.

Last night I learned "Dont Forget Me" (RHCP). Simple bass (4 double stops in succession) and the singing melody is in harmony with the bassline. Any more ideas?

What's wrong with Tommy the Cat?!?!?!

Here's one that I think you'll find appropriate: Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth).

What I mean is, "gentle-sounding" songs. Primus/Metallica don't have many of those.

moonlight sonata- stuart hamm version
last week at the church band rehearsal, i was noodling around a bit (they talk so much) and all the singers froze when they heard it (they're classically trained).

There must be a way to do "Blackbird", (Beatles), on the bass. Just gotta be!

Just take a song and drop it an octave lol. Worked for me I transcribed "Oh Come, All Ye Faithful" to bass when I was bored and it sounds pretty nice.

BWAHAHA! I played that song in my first band back in 95. Classic.

You should transcribe The Trees (by Rush) for bass.

Hmm, Moondance by Van Morrison seems like a good candidate. Also RHCP's Soul to Squeeze (from the Coneheads soundtrack.)
