Good fretless songs to learn?

Sign in to disble this ad
I want to learn some songs that were played on a fretless bass, but I have no idea what to learn! I can only think of Jaco, and I'm burnt out on that. Any suggestions?

Try some Flower Kings with Jonas Reinhart (sp?).

Especially "The Truth Will set you Free" off of Unfold the Future.

Try Mick Karn's lines... Japan (from "Quiet Life" album on), Dali's Car.... that should keep you busy...

Pino on the first Paul Young album, "No Parlez" I think it was called...

Trying to think of something more recent...

Listen to Paul Simon's Graceland album. Bakithi Khumalo lays down some great fretless lines.

"Wherever I Lay My Hat" cover by Paul Young. Pino Palladino does a nice bit of fretless work on that. You'll find it on "The Essential Paul Young." I think Pino did a couple of other songs on that album with a fretless IIRC.
