Tal Wilkenfeld, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Weather Report, Jaco Pastorious.

All bass related too.

You probably could have posted this in the Recordings subforum, but OT is okay too.

there's so much variety in jazz, we really have to know your tastes in order to accurately recommend stuff that you'd like.

This.

As far as people to listen to, I'd recommend:

Charlie Parker
Thelonious Monk
Art Blakey
John Coltrane
Charles Mingus
Bela Fleck
Chick Corea
Dexter Gordon
Sonny Rollins
Miles Davis
Jaco Pastorius
Pat Metheny
Charlie Hunter
Cannonball Adderley
Albert Ayler
Wayne Shorter
Michael Brecker
Roy Haynes
Bud Powell
Bob Mintzer
Buddy Rich
Wynton Marsalis
Max Roach
Duke Ellington
Dave Weckl
Roy Hargrove
Josh Redman
Kenny Garrett
The Bad Plus

Those are just a bunch of my favorites, that should get you started. Obviously, it would help to narrow things down with a specific genre or period.

Maybe try the Recordings forum? And say more about what sort of stuff you're after.

Just to clear up the confusion.. the Off Topic forum is for anything non-music related. Miscellaneous forum is for music-related threads that don't belong in the other music forums so this could have gone in Miscellaneous or Recordings.

Then you probably shouldn't have ever mentioned the word jazz. As far as saying you don't listen to blues but you do like one of the best-known blues musicians ever, I'll leave you to sort out your own little logical dilemma there.
