good tuner and volume pedal

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm looking for a good tuner. I know that the new Peterson are probably the best. But I'm sure there is other one that are as good. I don't really need the fancy stuff. Just a good tuner.
Maybe a pedal model to put in the pedal board, but a desktop model would be fine.
Any suggestion?

Also, what are the good volume pedal?
I know ernie ball pedal are some of the best, is there any other volume pedal I should consider?

Thanks!

Are you looking for a stage or a studio tuner? If you want one for gigs, the boss TU-2 tuner is great, the best one I've had or tried. I don't really have any experience about studio tuners, so I'll let someone else answer that for you.

EDIT: About volume pedals, I've never used one for bass and never needed one. But for guitar, I'd say a George Dennis pedal I once had was one of the best. The guitarist in my band bought it from me when I switched to bass and started using his Earnie Ball pedal he thought was crap to tilt his combo amp a bit upwards. And that was twice as expensive... He switched to mine since it was the most exact one he'd ever tried (volume increases evenly). In all other ones he tried, the volume increase was huge in the end.

George Dennis pedal?
I never heard of them, but I will start to search right now.

I'm looking for a studio tuner. I never gig anymore.
I just want it to be accurate so I can do my tune up.

I had one of these (but an older version):

It worked for guitar, but a pedal specifically for bass would perhaps be better. Don't know if they have one... haven't checked...

EDIT: Yes they have one:

I've used a Dunlop High Gain volume pedal for close to 25 years. It has turned out to be pretty durable.

It's pretty much the most accurate non-strobe tuner. I've made slight adjustments to my intonation using it and it's very steady, the notes don't jump around, etc. I dunno how much precision you need, I imagine a strobe tuner (like the Peterson) is much better at it, but the DT-10 works for me.

I bought mine at Steve's for around 100$, so it's costly, but not for what you're getting.

the only thing more accurate than the Korg DT-10 is the Peterson Strobestomp. The Korg is $100 cheaper, and it's in a rugged STEEL Case, not plastic. I've had mine for 2 years now and it still works fine. It's been on the road, dropped, kicked, in a trailer that was in an accident (a tire fell off a truck and smashed the side of the trailer) and the pedal is fine and works great.

I honestly cannot say enough Wonderful things about the Korg DT-10.

Boss TU-2 tuner for floor, or Korg DTR for rack. I like the old DTR-1, which can be found used for about $75 to $100.

Ernie Ball volume pedals are bullet-proof. One night at a gig, I about died laughing when I looked over and saw the lead guitarist standing on his volume pedal with both feet, like it was a surfboard or something. He was trying to squeeze the last drop of volume out of it. No harm done.

+1000 on the Ernie Ball volume pedals. I also really like the Boss pedal tuner. Goes down to low A with no issues.

I bought (received as a gift) the EB volume pedal. I'm going to pick it up this week end.
For the tuner I don't know yet.
The korg seem good or the peterson we'll see.

This is a great volume pedal:

I use a Peterson strobe tuner but before that I used either Boss or Korg which were great too.
