Gosh blimey! copper prices today!

they've gone upppp! my dad went crazy around some slugs, and I suggested copper tape... I remember it being pretty cheap when I was younger. when he told me he got 6 rolls for around £18 I almost choked on my breakfast... but I thought, "they're bound to be pretty big rolls, right?"

when they came, they were pretty damn small... he threw me a couple of rolls for working on my basses/guitars (they're in dire need of shielding) and looking at them, it looks like probably a one roll per instrument job. I have 6 electric instruments at the moment... to shield them all, it costs almost £20! hot damn copper is pricey these days!

Edit: OK, one roll per instrument is an exaggeration... I could probably squeeze two, maximum 3 out of a roll... so it's not too bad. but still, compared to the price of insulation tape, or gaffa tape, or even duct tape, this is pretty pricey!

I believe (older) copper pennies are worth more by weight than face value.

I work in a hardware store.

A 25' box of 14/3 electrical wire used to be $9.99.

Now it's $21.99. And I had to reprice every box by hand.

And the copper pipe.

My copper tape cost £3.50 i think off ebay, its quite wide and was enough to fully do my modified bass job and my SG, it had a conductive adhesive which was nice aswell, but, £3.50 to silence two noisy instruments for good, not really that much, for the purpose at hand anyways
