Hi everyone, just wanted to share some exciting news that I just learned!
Im a big fan of the TV series 'SONS OF ANARCHY', and it turns out a song I played on ended up being used in an episode this last Season (Season 4)!
I guess it was an episode early on in this last Season, but I just heard about it this week! Kinda neato when stuff like this happens '
Anyway, heres a youtube link of the song if anybody feels like checking it out. Its called 'RED BANDANA', and was written by LEEROY STAGGER. It features the legendary 'Pat Steward (Bryan Adams, The Odds, Matthew Good) on drums) and Kevin Kane (Grapes of Wrath) on lead guitar as well. Enjoy! Leeroy Stagger "Red Bandana" - YouTube |

Indeed that was me in that Live clip. We actually released an entire live album from that European tour as well.
In the studio I was using a Fender Custom Shop 59' P with DR Flats, into an old channel strip that was originally from Stax that our friend had I believe( it's been a few years). Had a really nice natural breakup to it for bass. I also used a pick in that one.
Cheers! |

You sound fantastic in this one, too.
Congratulations!

Watched another one named "Stormy" also nice. Good to hear decent music is still being written.

Leeroy is truly an artist who has put in his 10,000 'Gladwellian' hours on his craft.
Makes me happy for him to get some commercial attention after all the years on the road and shows played to nobody in small markets. Gratifying to see persistence pay off for a change!
Happy holidays out there! |

I love that series and actually remember the song you are on making a very good impression on me from when the episode originally aired. I actually looked to see the name of the song for sure at the end of the episode! You are now a legend in my eyes!

You and the drummer are a nice rhythm section: compact and solid. You guys are really layin' it down back there!
ya done good!

I can't say I've heard of Leeroy before, but I like the song, so I'm gonna check out more, especially after reading the bit where you mentioned he and you have been steadily putting the shoulder to the plow for several years out on the road paying your dues, and playing to next to nobody in the beginning, and that it's slowly and steadily pickup up momentum for you guys. Congratulations once again, and thanks for sharing it with us. Btw, do you know how the song got placed, or picked up by any chance? I always find it fascinating to read about these things.
Cheers! |

Ya for sure man, a lot of touring making no money, but gaining fans, friends and business connections!
Im not entirely sure which route this song placement took when coming into place. In the past, it was a relationship with an independent distribution label called Boompa Records in Vancouver, Canada that lead to a placement on 'Grey's Anatomy' for Lee a few years back.
I think ultimately Lee probably has a few sources that shop his music for Licsensing and Placements, as do many singer songwriters these days. It's amazing how much interest is generated by a good song placement these days! Really great for the artists. |

Awesome, thanks for sharing this info T Bassman! It's always cool to see fellow musicians grow and hear their stories! Best wishes for continued success, but even more so, continued fun and happiness holding down the low end for Leeroy and any others in 2012 and beyond. Cheers. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
