How any art can recieve an award is simply mind boggling to me. Its not a competition.

I dont mind checking out some of the performances but they seem to get more boring each year.

That Bruno Mars + Sting thing was pretty good, except for seeing two basses and hearing one.

What was the name of the song?

Carrie Underwood's lipstick color plays well with her hair. Or something.

I never thought I could be so out of touch with modern music. I don't know who half these people are.

The vocals on most every performance are buried.

-Taylor Swift couldn't be heard due to the huge amount of background singers (not that I'm complaining)
-I didn't realize Fun. was so popular (yay for generic anthem bubblegum pop)
-The Black Keys sound like every hard blues rock band from the 70s
-Mumford and Sons make the same song over and over
-Bruno Mars tries too hard to be James Brown

I think people watch the other award shows to see who actually won the awards. And since the Grammy's have always ruthlessly got rid of everything but the most mainstream pop awards to televise our perceptions get skewed

Esperanza Spalding won best jazz vocal performance (I believe) and Robert Glasper won best R&B album. Great success!

I don't think its possible to be a hard rock blues band and not sound like the 70's. Otherwise it would be prog blues rock, lol. I agree about Mumford, their banjo player needs to start branching out. He always sounds like he's playing the same thing.

Miranda Lambert, not Marissa. The tone was fantastic.

Some of you guys don't seem to grasp the concept of a sound man. When different bassists appear, faders slide.

So how much do you think Sting's '51 Precision is worth?...assuming that it's not a relic'd POC of course...

Kelly Clarkson is now my favorite entertainer of the new millenium. I felt bad for Joan Crawford Jr. and her teenage son Opie getting upstaged like that, but Kelly became instantly legendary:

Does that mean if your ever in a band that wins or is nominated for a Grammy you wont participate?

Sour grapes?

I do, it's a good way for older guys like me to stay up on what's happening.

I enjoyed the show.

I thought the Sting/Bruno Mars thing was the highlight. I'm pretty sure they were playing tracks under vox, but it was still a cool mashup.

Ever since Neal Young's career was resurrected when he did the song with Pearl Jam they've been trying to recreate that moment (Elton John and whoever that was with him). That whole bit is tired, IMO.

I'm sure Super-Unknown will not be nominated for best tribute band. And if it were to happen, I'm very sure I wouldn't make the trip. I'd supply the rest of the band with a life-size cutout of me to stand with them.

I have never been a fan of awards shows. I think they all suck.
Bunch of people celebrating how 'great' they are. Puke.

No sour grapes at all blue.

I detest the music 'industry'.

Just like the Rock and roll Hall Of Fame, I think it is a pile of horse dung.

It was nice to see Stanley Clarke (on upright bass), Chick Corea, and another guy on sax play Take 5 but it was too short.

And, I want to know who was the tone deaf person who told Frank Ocean he has any talent and can sing.

Short but sweet. Stanley looked like a million bucks.

Yeah...but The Black Keys take "generic" to another level. Even The White Stripes - who do garage rock way better - predate them. I don't get what the hub-dub about them are. They rehash everything common about hard blues and bring absolutely nothing new to the table.
