Great concerts you saw, but did not appreciate?

I saw Peter Tosh, Talking Heads, Police, and Stevie Ray all in one show....had no clue, got way too stoned.
I also, the same year, saw Jaco and Stanley Clarke...man, talk about no appreciation.

In 2008 I got almost choked to death by a swarm of people when Iron Maiden started playing, it was my first big show and didn't knew what to expect, lost a shoe, etc. It was a festival, the rest of it went like a charm except that bit.

All under the age of 10 my dad took me to see...

Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Fogerty, The Allman Brothers Band, Jeff Beck, Johnny Lang, Santana, John McLaughlan.

The expose to great musicians was wonderful, but not fully appreciated at my age. Oh well...

I used to watch the Stereophonics back in the day when they were playing local pub's under the name of The Tragic Love Company, what I didn't appreciate at the time was how big they were going to become.

The late 80's , 87 or 88 , can't remember exactly. The Pixies opening for " Love and Rockets" at the Fox Theatre in St. Louis . I wasn't a big fan of The Pixies at that time but really am now.

hmm.... I think the only one that falls into that category for me was when I got free tickets for a Weezer show. The show itself was fantastic, great stage setup, performance, lighting, and everything. My friends and I were even in the VIP area in front of the stage, with free food and drinks catered to us the whole night.

I just happen to think that Weezer is an extremely boring band, so I was semi catatonic with boredom the whole time.

ummmmm, for me I would guess seeing Dream Theater with Maiden on their El Dorado tour, though I still can't say I like them at all, great musicianship but for me the music is mucho too lame-o, and not entertaining in the slightest.

Haha, same here. Saw Weezer open for Hole who opened for Green Day. People were booing Weezer so bad, they walked off the stage.

For me though, it would have to be ZZ Top. I was too busy drinking and slamming people around in the mosh pit to enjoy the show and music.

Mosh pit or mass amounts of drunken stumbling/tripping/tipping over-ing?

We did a generous amount of drinking during the opening act, then wandered down to the mosh pit to throw some people around.

Mosh Pit and ZZ Top? That's an odd one.

Yeah, we didn't expect it either. But it was back in the early 90's when mosh pits were all the rage. I was in a mosh pit at a Hank Williams Junior concert around then too.

Back in '75 I went to a Kiss concert with a bunch of friends. Uriah Heep opened. Think I was the only one in the crowd that dug Heep and didn't care much for Kiss with their corny costume show... lol

I saw the Mars Volta before I had developed an appreciation for their music.

I saw Rush a couple of years ago, but I don't really like Rush. However, I own the Geddy Lee bass for some reason.
