Great Service!

I went with my church today to play at the anniversary service for the Senior Choir at Canaan-Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in Madison, Illinois. The Senior Choir had a repertoire that definitel leaned towards traditional gospel, which they really sang and played well. What was noteworthy was that their bassist played a four string Deltatone P/J four string. The bass was not super prominent in the mix, but he really sounded great for what they did. They also did a few newer songs that sounded fine too. The musicians included a pianist and a organist on real B-3 with a Leslie so it wasn't like they could go below E if necessary!

I supported my choir with my Five string Jazz, and we ended up playing more traditional stuff than we normally do in response to the home choir. Overall, it was a great service, and a reminder that a regular old four string can get a whole lot done in an Urban Gospel setting!
