I have a really good idea of where I want it. I will try to tape it into position and mark it for my guy. | My thoughts as well - these basses are my go to and I'm likely to have them for life, so might as well fit them out so they work best for what I need. Here's a picture of where I've put the flush mount - this is on a 4402 - so might need to adjust it somewhat for the 5594. Definitely recommend taping and marking it.
Let us know how you go with it!

One of the things that stopped me from playing certain basses was the way they sat on the strap. Some basses pull to the side a bit while on a strap, and that makes the pain start a lot quicker.
Everything I've seen on the Duostrap makes me believe it'll behave a little differently than other dual straps, which makes the $150 purchase totally worth it. IF it works for me. I'm a really skinny guy, and I wear my bass up slightly above my belt. I usually end up needing to modify my straps with extra holes. Drilling holes into a $150 strap isn't exactly painless, if you know what I mean. | Bass position is important to me as well. I try to keep my right wrist pretty straight. Here's a shot of how mine hangs with the duostrap - I'm only 5'8" and not quite as slim as I once was (!), but I found I needed the extension tail to get the bass to sit where I wanted it to. I found there were plenty of adjustment holes for my needs - might be different for you though depending on where you like to wear it? |

I bought the tension strap but I feel like it works just fine without it and without drilling any holes in my bass. It's working so well, in fact, that I hate to even change what I'm doing at this point. I do have a single cut bass on the way, however, and I'll need the tensipn strap with that....For me the Duo Strap has been an absolute life saver. I've currently aggrivated my left shoulder badly and I don't think I could play standing without it. I play bass for a living and play long gigs often. I'd have to sit if I didn't have it. It could have cost $300 and it would have been worth it to me. It works that well and I use it that often. I've used other double straps and made my own and they didn't work nearly as well.

Thinking of going looser with the left strap, so the right strap hangs on the shoulder and doesn't slide off to right when I play up the neck. Any suggestions?

| | | Do you think the DuoStrap would work well for guitarists too? My guitar's been eating into my left shoulder for years, and I have to fight to keep the shoulder from rolling forward. I got a Comfort Strapp a while back, but it's still a problem and I'm considering a two-shoulder strap.
My main concern is whether I'll be able to position the guitar where I want it. I like it to tilt out a bit (top edge leaning away from my body), and I installed a strap button on the heel of the neck a few years ago to help it hang that way. I found that when it hangs from the tip of the horn it tends to lean in towards me, forcing my left hand into an awkward position. I put some pics below to show the kind of position I keep it in.
It would be great to spread the weight more evenly and ease the strain on my shoulder and spine. Please let me know what you think. |

Any suggestions? | I have the right strap slightly shorter so there's a little more weight ot that side (to take pressure of my left shoulder)and I have the right strap installed at the highest setting (closest to my head) and there is no chance of it falling off my shoulder.

] | Should work no problem. There's a lot of room to adjust the strap so you should be able to get it where you want it. Get the tension strap too so you can play with the position of the right strap. I've got the tension strap for my single cut bass and I noticed that the placement of the right strap can make a big difference.

In high school, I used a Fender waist strap (attached to the back of the guitar with two eye bolts) which worked well, but limited the movement of the guitar and hasn't been available for years. I have been looking for an alternative strap, and stumbled on this "homemade" rig of a shoulder and waist strap. It's worth considering. Watch the video on the link. http://chriskeuken.nl/health/strapping-the-bass.html |

You should measure the length of your current strap and then compare to see if the duo will adjust to that length. |

| | | I took advantage of the december sale and got one. I'm still working on the set up. It was quite a struggle fitting the strap and tension strap onto my schaller strap locks, even though I got the nylon tension strap. I can't imagine how you'd fit the leather tension strap onto the locks without some special tool to squeeze it all flat.
I just tried it on with just the left strap (like a standard guitar strap) and it's amazingly comfortable! I had a wide neoprene Comfort Strapp, but this feels way better. Maybe all the winter clothing helped too Anyway, I'm gonna set up the right-shoulder strap and try to get it all dialed in. My plan is to install a flush-mount strap pin to replace the tension strap once I've got the placement figured out. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
