Thumbs up Guess what I got? One of those cheapie Ibanez LU20 Tuners!

And it is surprisingly not crappy.

I just picked it up a couple of days ago, so I can't give it a thorough review, but so far I've been really impressed at how accurate it is and how easily it tunes the low notes. My band tunes to drop C, and it seems to pick up the low C without much hesitation. It is certainly better than my previous tuner, a Rocktron X-Tune, at grabbing the note. Once you ARE in tune it might show you being a hair sharp or flat, but it is apparently accurate to 1 cent, which is pretty impressive for a $40 tuner.

The build quality seems ok. Not great, and certainly nothing that I would trust to stand up to me dropping my 220 pound weight on it, but not terrible. They claim that it is true bypass, but judging from the switch, I am guessing that it is a cheater true bypass like the Dean Markley tuner, where the muted output is buffered, but the continuous output is hardwired. Either way, I didn't notice any noise or signal loss when running through the muted output.

I haven't gigged with it, but the display seems plenty easy to read. There is a BLUE LED that lights up when you are in tune, and an average sized display that gives you your note. The one thing that might be mildly irritating about the display is that there is only a small red dot to indicate that you're playing a C# as opposed to a C.

It is kind of a weird shape. It is a little bit larger than a BOSS pedal, but it sits horozontally on your board.

Overall, I'm pretty impressed with it, especially for the price. It tunes well, doesn't screw up your sound, and doesn't take up too much pedalboard real estate. If you're too poor for a Pitchblack or a strobo-stomp (like me) it's certainly worth a look.
