Guiar shops/stores in Houston, TX??

Sign in to disble this ad
Im tired of driving 40 minutes to the nearest GC to buy my stuff only to get bad customer service and sometimes bad gear. So I'm looking for an alternative to GC so to speak. Mom and pops stores, back alley shops etc. Anything except GC. Ive tried google and can't get useful information there, so Im relying on the TB community here to help me out.

Thanks in advance.

On the north side, there's Parker Music, I-45 just south of West Road.

Not too far from downtown, there's Rockin Robin. They're on Shepherd, maybe a mile north of 59.

Both have a pretty extensive selection of decent to very nice stuff - Parker is strictly new stuff, while Rockin Robin has both new and vintage. You can find anything from a used Rogue to a brand new Zon to a mint '58 P at Rockin Robin - new and vintage amps, too.

Down south, there's Danny D's Music in League City. I haven't been there in a very long time, dunno what they're carrying these days.

Thanks You. I will look into these. Rockin robin sounds like an interesting place. Would you say they price used gear pretty fairly?

Rockin' Robin is a cool place, but I haven't had any lucky with friendly staff there. They do have an original 51 P hanging on the wall though....

Fuller's Vintage Guitar is my favorite shop in Houston. It's around 610N and Yale. They deal Rickenbacker, Gibson, Fender, Gretsch, Epiphone, pretty much all the good names. Their bass selection is a little small. Epiphone, Gibson and TONS of Fender. And I do mean TONS.

Guitar selection is amazing. They've got a ton of acoustics too, and do great repair as well. Lots of vintage pieces as well.

+1 for Parker Music

They have good prices, and a large selection.

If Parker music is the place I'm thinking of, it has a Mars Music Repair in the back too that's pretty decent.

There's a place called Smack Guitars on Highway 6 near the Fort Bend Toll Road, but I wouldn't recommend that place too much though. They'll order anything you want but the owner is very touchy about people trying out the guitars and basses on the walls.

at rockin' robbin, they're f)(*ing assholes unless you're going to spend a bunch of money. All of their prices are pretty outrageous, but this is because they expect you to pay about 20% less after you haggle. You're supposed to haggle prices, i don't get it. a little north of rockin' robbin, on the south side of richmond, there's a place called musicwise, they have some amps, but their basses are terrible almost unplayable no matter what type of bass, they manage to **** it up. musicwise has a lot of vintage synths and organs and pedals though.
