"Guilty Pleasure" basslines

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all,

Looking for people to post their guilty pleasure basslines. These are songs that have great, fun, basslines...as long as your buddies don't catch ya playing it

This idea came to me last night when I learned the bassline for "You're the One That I Want" from Grease . Great bass tune.

Figure this might also point people to songs with really cool basslines.

Later

Disco Inferno. I've always wanted to do it, and I always encounter great resistance. I did a fill in gig with a country band once, and broke into it while the singer was inciting the audiance to do shots.

You should have seen the look he shot me!

Not that I consider digging Abba a "guilty pleasure", but the bass on "One Of Us" is really choice. Played by Rutger Gunnarsson, I believe.

I hoped off the stool and ran to the computer to look up the bassline and then took another kids bass and we started jamming on it!

It's actually pretty fun!

Improvising over simple pop beats (Brittany Spears, Christina Agulara etc...) Its so easy to groove to pop, its almost a crime.

Bahahaha Dance Dance from Fall Out Boy... not a song I like... not even a band I enjoy listening to. But it's a fun little intro, drum and bass.

Man, when I play Slow Ride by Foghat, I get quite a few dirty looks (as if they're unable to realise it's one of the funkiest rock basslines EVER) :/

Then they turn and say to the guitarist "Play Technical Difficulties" (Racer X) and I let out a little smile
