Guitar Center Online Used Inventory...

Sign in to disble this ad
[quick rant]
Once again, I have some interest in a used bass at an out of state Guitar Center and once again, each one my inquiries have been ignored. Why does GC bother with the "Buy Now" & "Request More Info" forms in their used section online? I may as well just write my inquiry on a piece of scrap paper, roll it up, stuff it into a Snapple bottle, and toss it into Boston Harbor as both processes are equally effective.

Wanna know how many perennial browsers email for more info? If you're serious about buying something call them otherwise you're just a browser.

They don't care about their used gear- so they don't bother trying to sell it. I agree the online is a waste of time- go into the store and buy it for short money.

I always call. Someone will be more than happy to give you an in-hand overview of the instrument right away. You can always say, no thanks.

I've purchased two used instruments from GCs that were out of state. Give them a call and it is a no-hassle process like asking about or ordering anything else by phone. The shipping is cheap and they will honor a 30-day return at your local GC (less the shipping cost).

I saw a bass I wanted and called them immediately, and bought the bass. If you don't, somebody else will. If you don't like it when you get it, they'll take it back. It's easier to put off email than it is to put off a ringing telephone. Pick up the phone..... you can dooooo eeeeeeeeeeeet (bad Tony Little impression).

I always end up calling. The point is, what good are the online forms if they're ignored?

I've bought twice from GC out-of-state with first contact both times being through their email request. Both times I received a phone call back! And both times I've purchased and have been completely satisfied. I guess it depends on the particular store and manager/staff you're dealing with.

+1. The out of state GC would only ship to my credit card's billing address. This would mean that the bass would be delivered to my home and sit on the porch all day... no. So I had to get my local Guitard Center people involved, and do a store credit in order to get it shipped to my workplace. The Local guys were so inept that they almost screwed up the deal, telling me they could not do almost every single think I had arranged with the remote Guitar Center.

Some GCs are good, some are useless.

I wish their online pictures would be better. They are pretty bad......I wish I had asked the guy I talked to at the GC in Chicago to take some phone pics of the bass I bought and send them to me. He claimed my l2000 was in perfect condition w/zero issues. I had a hard time believing it since the bass was so cheap. Well when it arrived, it was in mint condition except for one thing.....pickup rust! The rust is obvious so he didnt miss it.... it doesnt affect sound so i dont really care and the bass is SICK otherwise but it would be nice to know. I wouldve asked for a 50$ discount. Remember these guys get a commision so the employee should be willing to take 5 or 6 pics of the instrument and send them to you....and yeah just call.
