Which Guitar Should I Buy?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey everyone... I need your advice on this one. Im a bass player at heart, but I sometimes I love messing around on a guitar. I love metal music so I want to know out of these 3 guitars, which one is the best? Thanks!

1. ESP LTD Alexi Laiho Signature
2. Dean Dimebag Razorback Shards
3. Jackson KE3 Kelly in Skulls Finish

I don't know a thing about guitars, but if you had to choose out of these 3, which one would you pick?

The best advice (and this is coming from my own guitar thread I posted earlier) is to go to yourt local shop that has them and play all three for awhile. use the same amp, preferably YOUR amp if you have a guitar amp, and they have your amp in stock.

Personally, I avoid signature series guitars because often (especially at the lower price-range) they will only have a few useable tones right around the 'signature sound'. You may find as you get better on guitar that while you still love playing metal, the Dime bag sound isn't exactly what you want.

For what you want, don't be afraid to look at Epi Les Paul's or SG's, Schecters of various types, Ibanez of various types, or other Deans, ESP's and Jackson's. You might find your sound in something that is ouside of those three models you've named.

Incdentally, I've heard great things about the Jackson you noted. I haven't seen any reviews of that Dean or that ESP you noted.

The ESP has only one pickup, and it's an EMGHZ at that. And not really worth all the money, IMO.

The Dimebag has a licensed trem and about $400 of that is due to the paintjob.

The jackson has a (poor) licensed trem.

I say if you really want a tremolo, go for the ESP M-1000. If you don't want a trem, an EC1000 FTW.
