Guitar Strings

I have the task of picking up my guitarist a pack of strings before our next rehearsal as he doesn't have the time to make it to the store, and I'm right next to one. Are strings as big of a deal for guitar as they are for bass, or will any pack just about get him the sound he needs. He's looking for a 60's rock type sound.

They are important, especially string gauge. If he didn't tell you, you're stuck.

Best bet is to contact him and find what he wants. If that doesn't work, but three sets of cheap strings, with the gauges, 9, 10, and 11 for the high 'E' string. That might be $12 total.

Hi.

It's essential that the gauges are the same, otherwise a setup is needed, the strings won't sit well in the nut slots etc.

Contact him, that will be the wisest thing to do.

Yes they are just as important. I reccommend either ELIXIR or DEAN MARKLEY BLUE STEELES and an Xtra light gauge because you can go faster on lighter strings and bends are easier. I use the Dean Markleys myself.

On my guitar-i detune.....i tune it like a 6 string bass. So i use Ernie Ball Beefy Slinkys 11-54. They do B-C tuning really well.

All D'Addario XL 10's here, but then again, you're going to get as many different opinions for guitar strings as bass strings out here, everyone's got their preferences.

Ask your guitarist what he uses, buy an extra set and throw it in your case. I'm always packing an extra set of D'Addario 10's for my guitards.
