Guitar World's Bass Guitar has shut down!?

Sign in to disble this ad
I sent in my subscription renewal and it came back addressee unknown. I called and a recorded message said they had stopped, and subscribers would get Guitar World instead. Anyone know anything about this? Any comments?

Now here in the UK things might not have caught up but most of the major magazine stalls and newagents are still stocking it. but it sounds like they have closed.

That's too bad. It was actually a pretty good magazine, but I still prefer Bass Player overall. I thought it would actually have a good run since it gives a somewhat more "mainstream" focus than other bass magazines. I wonder what the sales were like compared to Bass Player.

Future US has closed Guitar World's Bass
Guitar magazine, effective immediately(as of April 24), along with Guitar World Acoustic and Guitar One. The next and last issue(July ¹07), has Geddy Lee on the cover.

Coming soon for those who may be interested.

Well, it's nice that they'll be going out with a GOOD bass player on the cover, as opposed to the current month's cover:

Hmmm, this must be why I received a postcard in my mail last week saying my subscription will be delayed?

They had better not send me a damned guitar magazine in it's place.

never even knew the magazine existed... all we see on the shelves in good old Gloucester is "Bass Player" and "Bass Guitar Magazine" and then only if you're lucky and have gone to WH Smiths at the right time to catch the one copy left out of the two or so they bother to order...

Come on guys... If I don't know it exists, then how on earth can I buy it??? this isn't rocket science...

I shall carry on purchasing Bass Guitar Magazine as I'd hate there to be a day when the only magazine left is Bass Player...

Wow, that sucks, I didn't think that magazine was all that bad, actually, I usually bought it when I had a bit of cash to spare (American magazines are ridiculously expensive over here) and Bass Player wasn't available.

I just got the latest issue, with Geddy Lee on the cover, last week. It's too bad they are going under. They were more rock oriented than my own personal tastes, but they did cover a wide number of players and they had decent gear reviews, and good instructional articles. I am sad to see them go.

I will have them just cancel my subscription. I want Guitar World about as much as an asthma attack!

I'd heard that writer/editor Ed Friedland had just recently changed jobs, going from "Bass Player" magazine to "Bass Guitar". It appears that he didn't have good timing.

Well if it's true, i'm kinda happy. I've been trying to cancel it but something in me always tells me to keep it, but now I can't! Yay.

Bummer. Ed Friedland's perspective on our art and craft was my favorite. I hope he lands on his feet.

Yeah-here's hoping Ed gets a job with another magazine ASAP. I've always enjoyed his books.

I liked Guitar World's Bass Guitar, i like the UK Bass Guitar more though. I think i had 2-3 issues of that. It struck me as being odd, i'm in the middle of cornfield county Indiana & i saw a magazine with the pounds logo on it.

take it easy.

They don't make it anymore, therefore you won't be able to get it anymore.
