Question Guitarists - How do we deal with them?

Sign in to disble this ad
To me it seems that if a guitar player messes up a song, (comming in too soon, leaving out a section ...) it's music and it's up to the rhythm section to anticipate this and pull together as a band. It the rhythm section messes up, it's just a mistake.

It's like they are too busy, or too talented to actually take the time to listen to and learn a song and play it the right way.

Anyone else notice this? Any suggestions on how to deal with this?

Yes. Do exactly what you've been doing and accept the guitarist for who he is and what he's doing. If you keep getting good with the drummer at being able to "cover" like you are, it makes you such a better musician, IMHO, so you win.

+1. That's all part of the job, and you're doing a great job if you can cover the "mistakes"! You'll get used to it.
