Guitarists that use bass amps...

I've heard of guitar players using bass amps. I know SRV used a fender bassman.

What are other amps, old and newer, that you know guitarists have used?

please state MFG. and Model....

I hear Josh Homme uses bass amps, not sure what kind.

As far as the Fender Bassman, that's almost exclusively used by guitarists!

There was a guitar player around here that ran a Dual Rec into two SWR Goliath IIIs. He liked the thicker, heavier sound. Sounded like pure ass.

I believe he did play through actual bass amps in kyuss, as I imagine he couldn't afford all those vt-22/vt-40s while in kyuss.

Theres a guy in austin that uses an SVT III-pro, because he tunes down really low. It sounds really bad. SRV also used a dumble bass amp to record texas flood.

Supposedly the Vox AC30, among the most popular guitar amps for decades, was originally intended as a bass amp.

I've played around with it a little. It can sound really cool.

The Fender Bassman amp is probably more known as a guitar than bass amp...

I'm not a huge amptech guy but I've heard that Marshall based his original heads on a mod of the old Tweed Bassman combo. So that would mean that by extension (and distortion of the facts) a whole damn lot of guitarists have used bass amps.

in the early 1970's Keith Richards used Ampeg SVT's for the Rolling Stones' live shows.

The VT-22 is exactly the same as the V-4, just in a 2x12 cab. So it is an actual bass amp. He didn't change his gear from Kyuss to QOTSA, at least not on the first couple records.

I had a guitarist inquire about my V4BH when I was selling it. He said the EQ had more of a range with the guitar.

Those were SVT V-9's- Intended for guitar (has distortion
& Reverb) & 9 speakers!, otherwise same as SVT (my guitarist
has a MINT Amp & Cab for $2,300 I'm considering!)-
Check out the Stone's "Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out", particularly
"Midnight Rambler", to dig how thick these sound!
