That would up the price by at least $50. My time and gas and mileage is valuable.

I did the same with an FX pedal....two miles from my house, a well-known studio, and the price was firm @ $125.

2 miles isnt a big deal, I was figuring the OP would have to travel at least 15+ miles.

2 miles, 15 miles, 10 yards. If I take my time and deliver... it's $50 more. It should cost him something to be so presumptuous as to request such a thing.

Make sure it's not a shady place, bring a friend, and agree for $25 for this before you open case. If he buys it put towards the selling price. Bring a big friend.

If it's in town I wouldn't charge, just because I'm a nice guy.

But yeah...+1 on the bring a big friend part.

Okay, here's the deal....you'll bring the bass provided he stops and snags you a $5 footlong Subway sandwich.

Meet a neutral public place like a Guitar Center. He can bring his old axe to compare, play it through a number of rigs and everybody is protected. Be smart!

Damn you guys are harsh. If it's close, I don't see the big deal...IF he's a serious buyer. I did this with a bass head I sold. I didn't really have a way for him to try it at my house(all my gear is in my rehearsal space), so I brought it to his rehearsal space. He paid asking price, and it was a painless deal.

Craigslist is like a flake hangout. I'd ask for cash and compensation for delivery unless you are really needing to move the bass. Oh yea, definitely take a compadre with You, or You could end up tied up and gagged with duct tape riding in the back of a van with no windows.

Hell, I figure if Ive agreed to drive a few miles to potentially sell something to somebody the least they could do is smoke me out.

If you are meeting people you don't know and contacted you over the internet to exchange money and merch, I recommend airing on the side of caution. But that's just me.

They guy sounds decent enough so I am not worried about being robbed. His studio is fairly close but certainly not on my way to work.

I don't want to go out of my way only to then get haggled about the price.

I would prefer he buy the bass and try it out on my rig. Then if he is not happy with how the bass plays with his set up I will refund his money, barring any damage, etc.

Any time I have sold anything I have always offered to refund someone's money. Only once have I had to do this (the pedal switch was intermittent).
