Well, I thought I'd share this, as it gave me a little laugh.
I have a next-to-new electric guitar that I've been trying to trade or sell for awhile with no success, with the goal to make a little scratch and buy a new bass.
As luck would have it, I see that GC is having a trade-in event currently, so I contemplated taking my guitar down and trading it in.
So I'm checking out the website and happened to read this fine print... *15% off applies to single-item purchase only when combined with Trade Credit from a qualifying instrument during the same transaction. Maximum discount is $500. Purchases must be made at our tagged Guaranteed Lowest Price. Not to be used in conjunction with other coupons or offers. Not valid on prior purchases. No cash value. Excludes clearance, price-matched and vintage equipment, Gift Cards, Pro Coverage. The following manufacturers are excluded at their request: Adam monitors, AKG, Ampeg, Apogee Duets, Apple, Audix, Bose, Crate, Crown, dbx, Digitech, Edirol, some Epiphone and Gibson, ESP, EVH, Fender, Gretsch guitars, Jackson, JBL, KRK, Lexicon, Mackie, Martin, Mesa Boogie, Peavey, QSC, some Roland and Boss, Shure, Soundcraft, Squier, SWR, Taylor and select Korg, Marshall and Vox. Offer valid 3/1/10 - 3/14/10.
This pretty much covered the brands I was looking at.

Musicians friend will pretty much give you 20% off of anything just for the asking. They run all kinds of percentage sales every holiday also. AND you can easily get 2X as much selling something on ebay, here or craigslist with half the trouble, aggravation, or insult that you'll get lugging your gear into a guitar center. Add to that the ridiculous stuff you just posted... jeez. It is laughable. |

You will end up with about half of what GC is going to sell your gear for. |

A buddy of mine and I have both purchased brands on the GC excluded list and received the discount. The kid checking us out didn't bother to read the fine print himself.
