Hades has frozen over: Behringer at Sweetwater

Looks like Sweetwater is now distributing Behringer and Bugera

Behringer | Sweetwater.com

2 year warranty for free. Sweetwater is good on this. They respond quickly and always satisfy. They know their products.

Free shipping even on the small stuff.

IMHO - this adds credibility to B*
It does not discredit Sweetwater in any way. I'm sure they thought this over carefully.

I hope this doesn't trigger B* bashing. They've been around for decades and every manufacturer has good gear and duds.

Well, we'll see and for how long.

The warranty is not what most people think.

It's not for a new unit and free shipping.

You pay shipping BOTH WAYS and Sweetwater will repair it in-house.

Eventually, you'll get your repaired unit back, if they choose to fix it.

Lots of fine print to read here.

Sweetwater does have a good rep--arguably the best of all the big sellers--and as far as I know they wouldn't carry something that was trouble prone. 142 products is not the entire Behringer line either. I suspect they carefully crafted this list.

I dunno if this would swing me one way or another. I have not had bad luck with any Behringer stuff so far and actually like several of the things I've purchased over the years.

That doesn't change the nature of their guarantee, which I had to dig to find.

I think buyers should be more aware of its unattractive conditions, which makes this warranty utterly useless for a lot of gear that is too expensive or difficult to ship both ways relative to its value and the hassle and wait for repairs.

I think Sweetwater is intentionally burying this fine-print information on their site in hopes that most buyers think that this is the same sort of instant-free-replacement extended warranty they get from others for an additional charge.

It's not.

They may have, as the pedals, as but one example, have lots of problems.

Still, when most of this crap goes bad and people realize what they're up against to get it fixed, they'll just chuck it anyway.

For the B* warranty 1 year, the most you'd have to pay is shipping to the nearest Behringer service center. B* pays shipping back.

Shipping for the 2nd year, yeah that's a bummer. Still a 7 lb, 500w (probably 250w actual) per channel amp for $200, with 2 years some kind of warranty could be handy and should ship cheap.

Who says Behringer has a one-year warranty on their gear? Every piece I've ever bought had ninety days warranty.

Behringer does
BEHRINGER: Limited Warranty

Like any manufacturer only 90 days on tubes.

I'll agree that 1 year is not "Pro" level. The fact that it extends to 2 years makes me a little more comfortable about some gear.

BTW - whenever I put something in for repair under warranty, I try to write to manufacturer pointing out they need to extend their warranty by the same amount of time. This came into play for a camcorder I bought once. Shipping receipts, helped.

The old stomps I got all said 90 days in the enclosed papers. The site says one year.

I seem to remember that they increased warranty coverage, but I'm still confused...

Anyway, my point still stands --

Chill out there bongolation! Those "fine print" terms are more than reasonable and spelled out, shipping both ways is very reasonable. Sweetwater has done right by lots of musicians including me. Of all the gear purchased from Sweetwater i have only had an issue with on piece and they went more than the extra mile to be sure all was well, It was a B-stock computer hard drive- a tech went thru the installation process with me, there were issues so it was returned cost me 10 bucks to cover shipping both ways- when the replacement arrived that went thru the install again with me and made sure it was working and even did a follow up. That's a pretty good deal to me with great service. I mentioned the shipping cost when speaking with me sales guy and he knocked it off my next purchase.
