I want the neck to be in good shape/appearance, years from now, and i don't want any oils on it after I've thoroughly dried out my hands. I put lotion on after, when I'm done playing. |

I personally wouldn't put lotion on my hands before playing as I feel that would goober up your fret board over time.

My job requires extreme use of my hands so, sometimes my tips get serious calouses< sp? If my tips are too ruff i have a hard time getting a smooth attack.... so yea..... i use lotion from time to time.
