Hi everyone,
Without going into too many details, the next few months are going to be pretty rough. My girlfriend is moving to another city, and I myself will be going to another country (for at least 2 years !!) to finish my degree. This means I have to leave my job (where I just got a promotion last month ) and my two beloved bands here in Beijing, one of which starts gigging TONIGHT and the other only last month ...
So basically its gonna be rough.
What music do you like to listen to when life gets you down, or seems to stand in your way (or present you with huge challenges, whatever your perspective)? Can be anything: classical, jazz, rock, funk. Also any mood: soft, grooving, powerful, dancable. What music picks you up when you are down? PS: Mods I double posted in both db and 'lectricbass forums. Hope this is okay. |

* Van Morrison's "Moondance"
* Josh Rouse's "1972"

The Mighty Might Bosstones (or ska in general)
Frank Zappa (The Grand Wazoo, The Adventures of Gregory Peccary, Titties and Beer, Why does it Hurt when I Pee?, Disco Boy, and many others)
Tenacious D
Anything with a banjo (I personally find it very hard to be depressed with a banjo playing, odd)

for me it was lots of classical. bartok's music, and stravinsky's.
and then led zeppelin, and old genesis (with peter gabriel), jethro tull.
i'll have to agree with sly and the family stone (good one, mr. till!), and add on a good dose of james brown.
and pieces of clay by marvin gaye, for some reason. what a great song.
and Vandelay's got a great suggestion with "moondance," by van morrison. +1 on that. the whole album is amazing. and it definitely makes me happy.
good luck to you, uncle lee! i hope everything works out sooner rather than later! rock on!
