I'm trying to find myself a band to play with and am trying to use the net to do so. All thats turned up is a bunch of 2+ years old postings. Is there some secret to this? What services to you wonderful people use?

The internet is one way, but there seems to be a higher concentration of ....umm, not so serious people.

Try your local publications. Over here we have the http://thephoenix.com/

Also check out your local music shop bulletin boards.

Open mike nights.

Network your friends. (Not myspace. Real people) Get the word out you are looking for a band.

I found the last handful of people and bands online.

There are a few good local websites for musicians in NJ.

One good national one is what I use most

Where do you live??? Most of the band-searching sites I've seen have been Seppo or Euro. Not many for Aus or much else.

Have you tried making up posters and putting them up at music shops? Most of them have some kind of billboard. If you go to university or a really large workplace, you could try there too. Crikey, even your local corner store might have a place you can put it (or just tell you where you can)
