I was just thinking after practicing tonight, you know, i'm almost 53 years old and i'm playing to Queensryche, some Dream theater, some seether, and most of Audioslave. My question is this: am I the only geezer playing this stuff or are there others out there? I think it's odd that my 21 year old son and i can discuss the same bands over the phone. But i like it!! So let me hear from you old timers, do you like playing the harder edged stuff or am i alone?

MM's statement is my motto. I'll be 40 next February and have no plans of stop playing and digging good ol' heavy stuff. Rock and roll rules!

I don't play/like the hard and heavy stuff you mentioned but I'm 48, average 10 shows a month, own about 25 basses, and my wife just turned 26(she was 22 when we married).

CTbass&birdsong, you have to stop posting those pics before you decimate the tb population with an explosive case of GAS

^I agree. You have entirely too many basses, you should give some to me. I mean come on, you have like 5 Carl Thompsons, I'd lose bowel control if I had the chance to get just 1.

Seriously though, that is the most impressive collection I've ever seen. I would kill to have a setup like that. The room with the leather couches and amps, just freakin beautiful man, I'd love to just chill in there, trying to decide which bass to play.
BTW, what's with the P-bass in the case? Who signed it?

I like the heavy bands that have singers. I don't count the constant-scream guys or the cookie-monster guys as singers. My 14-year-old son just played me a song by Dragonforce this weekend. Insanely fast, but the guy can sing! Much more enjoyable than some other stuff he likes - Hatebreed, Trivium, Disturbed, etc. Those vocalists are just annoying.
Of course, I don't play any of that heavy stuff. I play country. Merle Haggard, yeah, that's the ticket!
