Hard-shell case for my Squier SQ Precision

Sign in to disble this ad
Yesterday, I purchased a 1983/1984 Squier SQ Precision bass online. Unfortunately, the bass will be shipped without a matching case.

On eBay, I was browsing through some hard-shell cases made for Fender precision bass, and was wondering if my Squier will fit into a Fender case.

Any comments/suggestions?

I hauled around a Squier II P in a Fender case for some time...right now the case has a '51 RI in it. Pretty much any P will fit in any P case. The ones with molded interiors generally fit only Ps or Js, because they are shaped to fit the different bodies.

Congratulations on the purchase. I love old Squiers.

In reply to your question, yes. Squier builds their P-Basses to essentially the same dimensions as Fender. Any differences would be far too slight to make any real difference. But like the other guy said, if you're getting one of the molded ones, make sure it's for a P bass and not a J bass. Other than that, you shouldn't have anything to worry about.

i pretty much use one case for all my basses. If I were you, I'd probably just go out and buy a generic "one size fits all" case for it. That way you can put most other basses in it as well should you have the need. While the old Squiers are collectors items, they are a bit to obscure for it to really matter much whether or not they have matching cases (in fact, I would be doubtful as to whether or not Squier even made cases, especially back then, they probably would have sold it with a Fender case).

My (used - very used) Squier II came with a Fender molded case, and the Squier P was a snug fit in it. I don't know if what the history of the case with, or whether it was actually provided with the Squier when new.

The molded cases were not expensive and probably a lot of Squiers were outfitted with them.

One of my favorites is made by gator. It will hold many of my different basses (including P-basses),
