Some of the composition is cheesy, but amazing technique. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yPEewaalik

I wouldn't say that there is a lot of distortion on the guitar at all. It's a pretty typical tone for music of that style.

"Zesty Fresh" clean . . . Just with some 'presense' and overdrive to keep those notes from decaying too quickly, thats all.

He's good. I still prefer Paul Gilbert for the role of "King of technique".

Gilbert fills that role? He's good but.... "King of technique"?

Govan must get compared to Holdsworth every once in awhile.

He's good, but Steve Morse did it better with the Dregs long ago. Actually thanks for pointing this guy out. I'm always up for decent shred-fusion guitarists.

CLEAN! And an amazing piece in terms of tone, technicality, pace, and most importantly, melody and composition!

That was nice and clean. I always wish that I could play guitar like he does in the first minute or so.

There is Shawn Lane and then there is everyone else when it comes to technique and everything else shred.

I used to say Paul Gilbert had the cleanest technique out of any rock guitar player for electric. But Govan? I didn't even know Govan's was possible. There's like Zero attack on the notes.

Well if you watch Paul Gilbert play, no matter what he plays, it's like he's just playing warm-up scales. Never exhausted, never sloppy. Just simple stuff.

Hellborg is a beast too, I saw him in a Video of him and Lane and people were only commenting on him one time. RIP Lane. He probably was the most skilled electric guitar player.

I downloaded this track and theres a short bass solo thingy in it. I think it might be him playing it too. Makes me want to quit. It's in the vid when he's playing the arpeggios and stuff.

That's the thing; that cat always [just about] sounds like he's just warming up and playing scales, but I do digress. I don't think his technique is as good as you think it is it seems.

Batio is clean. But Even slow Guthrie's cleanliness is amazing.

I think he plays like a robot.

Give me Maggot Brain or Machine Gun over perfect technique any day.

Yeah, but can he write a memorable song. ...

For some stunning guitar chops in the context of a funny song check out Bart Grantham.

Great vocal chops there, too......
