Not Hash House

How about The Prairie Inn Harriers, Victoria, BC?

Great club!

I've been debating whether to join in one of the local hashes. Three things stopping me so far: the most promising meets on Wednesday, which was rehearsal night (until I bagged that project recently); I'm generally not in as good shape as I used to be; and the HHH vibe just might be a bit too... un-matured for me? I mean, c'mon, I'm 47. Do I really need a nickname based on bodily functions or fluids?

masterfader87 and superbassman2000 - wrong hash, sorry

John Bigboote - Cool, I really didn't expect anyone here to know the HHH. I wasn't a runner at all when I started. Our kennel has a range from walkers to marathoners regularly. B.T.W. I'm 44 and I rely on the immaturity to get by in my normal life.

blackandwhite: You're right, sounds like a great club. We're more a social club that runs between bars. i.e. We're a drinking club with a running problem. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hash_House_Harriers)

About five years ago, my wife was offered an expat position in Shanghai. I was heavily into triathlons at the time, and figured HHH would be a great way to meet other runners/drinkers. The deal fell through, and I haven't followed through locally. But now that I'm out of my last band, it might be time to give it a go...

I got into it back in 98. I was sent to Wichita from Toronto for a 6 month work stint. One of the other ex-patriot Canadians started a chapter down there and both my wife and I have been doing it ever since. For us, it's a great way to let off steam.

It's not what you're thinking about...

I have a few friends who are HHH'ers, and I've been to a few of their events. As out of shape as I am, I was surprised that I was able to keep up with them. I guess what I lacked in running skills, I made up for in drinking!

Fun bunch, if not a bit geeky... but still fun!
