Well, this migth not be the best advice (specially for ((KamiKaZe))), but I've been using Behringer HPX 2000 and I think its great. Very cheap, but also very comfortable and good sound too. I may not have a comparision point, but unless you want the "ultimate sound!" a pair of these are just perfect for nigth practice Ivan

I use Sony MDR-V150, inexpensive, lighter weight than most, good enough fit and a good length of cable, handle's bass frequencies well and keeps it together, and if you happen to stand on them (as I have clumsily done before now) it's not going to be a problem to replace them. Reviews available online.

V-Moda "Bass Frequency" in-ears

I use these in-ears for my GIGS, and home practice. I have four sets. Two in my gig bag, and one unopened, new backup..and one set for home practice. Once you get used to using them and just how to fit them properly in your ear canal, using the provided different silicone tips...you'll never use a pair of 'cans' again. The bass response, and all of the frequencies are highly detailed, and much better than anything Ive used before. I have a set of the Behringer headphones. Big, bulky, and uncomfortable after a while. You can buy 3 sets of V-moda's for the price of the Behringers, and that's a great deal.
These V-moda's are available on Ebay- from the seller 128 headphones...for 6 bucks a set, in the odder colors- and who cares about the color, really... and that price is with free shipping! They ship really fast, too. I just ordered and received 12 sets, to outfit and provide backup sets for my whole band. They love them.
I tried an expensive set of Bose, Senheiser, Koss, Phillips, two pairs of Sony's (really good) but none came close to the V-moda's. CNET gave these an 8.5 in a headphone shootout. Look it up, it might still be available to see. That's a pretty good review, the rest of the headphones in their comparison were not in-ears.

Just to let you know, I used to HATE in-ears, it was always like the bass was a bass kazoo. Not anymore. At home I use a Behringer Xenyx 802 mixer, and these ear buds, I mix in my computer's sound card output, and occasionally, a Tascam bass trainer. I use three channels. It sounds SO good, it kills EVERY practice rig I've ever had, including my Marshall Major with a 4-15 cabinet on 7. The plus is -not a soul can hear you.

You didn't specify a budget. If you are willing to spend US$200, Beyer Dynamic DT770M may be a good choice.

There are multiple DT770, so make sure you you don't drop the "M", or you'll end up with a coiled cord, or 250 Ohm transducers.

Keep in mind the weight if you can, there's nothing like feeling a bit weighed down by a head clamp It get's to you after a while.

P.S. and a good usable length of cable so you can move round without constantly pulling them off.

I use those as well for my guitar trainer. Cord is nice and long, and the sound is pretty good for a cheap pair of 'phones from Wal-mart. Was listening to some bass lines earlier and they do seem to handle the lows pretty well.

(PS: Nice avatar!!!! Love the SGV's)

Eh, to me head phone sound isnt too important. I only use them for late at night so I dont anger the old man in the downstairs apartment. I think comfort is more of a factor for me than sound. The ear buds seem worth researching though.

Audiologists are generally against earbuds because their form factor tends to cause people to turn up the volume leading to possible hearing damage. Since earbuds don't completely cover the ear and sheild it from outside noise, outside noise can interfere with hearing well with earbuds. That's makes folks tend to turn them up so that it seems to sound decent but in reality the volume is way higher than is safe for long-term use. I was guilty of this. Once I switched to closed back headphones, I could hear things much better at lower volumes.

Some food for thought.
