Headphones?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi good people,

I live in an apartment with paper walls and as such the noise from my crappy little practise amp is too loud (even with the volume just barely over a quarter of the way up) for my roommate and neighbours, so I'm looking in to buying a set of headphones to use.

I use Sennheiser earphones with my iPod, are their headphones of a similar quality? Any others to check out?

There are dozens of threads on this topic (many from newbies who don't/won't use the Search function).
Certain model by Sony, AKG, Sennheiser, BeyerDynamic (among others) receive kudos from bassists. The price range is ~$50-200.

People always look over the cheap earbuds sound quality. Try skull candy headphones. If you wanna spend more money than the earbuds, the more expensive "over ear" sets offer bass boosting technology (maybe built in mini subs?)that really get the headphones pumping.

I use Sennheiser HD 280 Pro phones for recording Pretty good bass response.

But, is it really the volume that's buggin the neighbors or the vibration? I'd try putting the amp in a chair on a big pillow. Aim it towards the center of the room (away from neighbors wall). Then try @ the same volume you've been using. I had similar problems when I lived in an apartment.

Sony MDR-7506.... Best $100 bucks you'll ever spend. They last forever and sound terrific with bass and everything else. I've owned these for over 15 years and I highly recommend them. You'll never need to buy anything else.)-(

Okay I couldn't find any Sennheisers or Grados near me, so I ended up picking up a pair of Shure SRH440's for about $120 canadian.

They seem pretty good so far!

And now I've returned the SRH440's and gotten the SRH840's instead.

The 440's were good but these 840's are amazing!
