Im getting headphones for my IPod soon, cos i dont like the type that comes with it, and was wondering, what types of headphones are best for the ears protection? Ive heard that the ones that close around the ears are best while those small ones that are put into the ears can damage the ears. Is that true?
Would these be good? |

For a portable player I'd recommend in-ear phones, assuming you don't hate the feeling. They are a lot smaller and a decent pair will sound great.

Assuming you have the self control to keep the levels down, it's no problem. This is only true for cheap in-ears. Good ones block out most outside sound (I have cheap ones).

It's a valid concern -- you do want to make it audible -- but depending on your environment you may not need much isolation (in an office, perhaps), and you can always get some that do block out outside noise if you need them.

I bought Sennheiser in-ear phones that block the outside noise about 10db. It allowed me to listen at the half wolume I used to listen to.
I used to listen to at 30 (max level) now I2m listening at 12-13. Well I had to quit listening due to a recent hearing loss+ringing in the ear though.

Moderator | | | | | I bought some Koss "the plug earphone for about $10 based on a thread i'd seen here once. they are not the best headphones you will ever hear, but for portable music they are not bad at all. the 'bass' is adjusted by how far you squash them in your head. also, for $10 if you don't like them you can find another use for them or throw them away.
Excellent price for the Sure... I damage these things though, which is why the cheap ones appeal to me.
