headphones onstage?

anybody using headphones as a personal monitor on stage ?
if so what brand ? and how are they used ie stage mix or just your bass? with open-back phones can you hear and talk between songs without removing them?

It may be better using in-ear monitors so it doesn't look so out of place...but thats just me.

I've seen drummers play with earphones, but never a bassist. I'd think that the earphone cord might be a hinderance.
