Question HELP: Creative Block?!?!

Sign in to disble this ad
A while back on TB, I read about a musician/producer that developed a set of cards designed to break creative block. I think it was Jeff Lynne of ELO fame, but I can't remember. I also cannot find the original post talked about this.

I searched google in vain for several hours today trying to find the answer.

Anyone have any ideas/leadds?!?!

help!!!

Put the instrument down until the "muse" hits you. If you force yourself to write you will get all the more frustrated.

Thanks for the advice, but I'm not suffering from creative block at the moment.

I'm just looking for the name of these sets of cards....

I don't know about the cards, but I can tell you this: The most surefire way to get "creative block" is to believe that it exists.

Creativity is like mood: sometimes a person feels great, other times not so good. The point is there are swings and roundabouts. You're still the same person with the same set of skills.

Blaming an element you can't control is a convenient way to excuse creative output that doesn't please you, but you should accept it as part of the process and believe that even if you didn't produce something great today, you produced something, and the thing you produce next will be better, and if it isn't, the one after that.

Process > Product.

Wise words!

However, my question has nothing directly to do with creative block that I may or may not be suffering from, rather the name of the set of cards that musos have used in the past to overcome creative block. Part of the process, if you will.

If it matters, this subject came up in conversation. I remembered this cards, but couldn't for the life of me remember what they were called.

Anyone?

Definitely tacky, but for some reason, I might like the idea.
