Help me build a setlist

I'm putting together a band doing Latin and Spanish music of the more poppy/folky variety, not the Latin jazz that most Latin bands around here play. Here's what we're working on so far:

Joan Manuel Serrat - Tu nombre me sabe a hierba
Joan Manuel Serrat - Aquellas pequeńas cosas
Rosana - El talisman
Hugo Blanco - Moliendo cafe
Juan Luis Guerra - Ojala que llueva cafe
Luis Miguel - Por debajo de la mesa
Shakira - La tortura

Yeah, that last one is a lot more modern than the rest! But anyway, please recommend us some more songs to add to the setlist that would go well with these.

I am currently taking guitar lessons and was looking for versions of Kansas City. I found the Beatles version and a spanish recording with great guitar solos . While my Spanish is limited I was thinking that a classic oldtime rock set in spanish would go over great at a live gig......How about:
Kansas City
Give me that old Time R&R (Seeger), Chuck Berry.(your choice ) .....Best of luck

pklima,
I just got back from playing salsa with an army band in Iraq and here is what we used for general set list making.

Intro, start with fast tempo exciting.
Continue with slower songs then the previous for the next 4-6 songs with 0-2 seconds break between songs. Keep 'em dancin!
After the first 4-6 songs, your front man can say a few words (20 seconds tops)
Keep it relatively similar tempos for a few songs,
Throw a ballad in there (frontman announces ballad 20 sec tops)
Close out set in opposite of intro, medium tempo building to screamin. Keep 'em dancin and wanting more.

Hope this helps

How about some Manu Chao? That's pretty poppy Latin (I think?) Clandestino or Me Llaman Calle could go down well. I don't know how well they'd go with your other songs though.

Oooh. That's an idea. Our lead singer really likes Sam Cooke, so she'll be into this.

Thanks. That's very helpful, and I think that kind of pacing would work with the songs we've got so far, at least if we are careful to not add too many ballads... we've already got two there.

Yes! He played live in Poland a couple of years back so people should know his songs better than most other Latin stuff, we should definitely include some of his songs.
