I just tried playing my Fender Bullet and as I sat down to play I noticed a most foul smell. It seems that a cat has sprayed inside of my bass case. I don't know when it happened, but it did and it stinks bad. Any advice on how to get this odious stench out of the fabric of my case? |

...or ultraviolet lamps. That's supposed to break down just about any smell over time. Not sure how long it would take though. |

It actually doesn't remove the smell - it emits a chemical that blocks receptors in your nose so you can't smell whatever is stinky that the Febreeze is sprayed on.
Point is, if you use Febreeze you still have urine in your case. You need to clean that mother out.

One of my cats used to have a problem with pissing on everything. A few years ago I had an open box in my home studio full of some cables, and he came in and pissed in them.
I can't remember what I did exactly, I think I ran them under the faucet with some soap or something. I had to trash two of my nice XLR cables. |

The smell was treated with several air fresheners and dissipated over time, The Kat on the other hand met with disaster rather quickly. Never had the problem again. Saved a small bundle on Kat food too..... |

find a used Ionic Breeze, open the bag position the Ionic Breeze in the case, cover with a thick contractor trash bag.. let this run full tilt for a few days.. no odors.. ozone treatment is what car detailers use to get smells out of cars.. i've seen/smelled the before and after of a car that had 2 gallons of spoiled milk in it.. think Texas humid heat and spilled milk in a car.. not fun.. you could find a car detailer that has an ozone generator and have them treat it..
wet treatments will just get your case wet and possibly concentrate the smell into the seams of the case.. and you have to wait until it dries out..
i'd do the ozone treatment.. i've done it more than a few times and it pulls pretty nasty smells out, fairly quickly if you concentrate it in a small area..
also, you can try activated charcoal in cotton tube socks too.. |
