| So study some hard times blues songs. I've been trying to get my band to add Hard Times In The Land Of Plenty by Omar and the Howlers. It's a fairly perfect example.
When you have the basic concept in mind, look at a bunch of Occupy Wall Street/I am the 99% pictures. Those'll give you ideas to run with.
If that hasn't gotten you started, look at some old Woody Guthrie lyrics for a head start. I believe he was the one who said "A man with a briefcase can steals much more money than any man with a gun."
Does it have to be traditional 12 bar blues? I've been writing one lately about the corruption of the system and how much more important corporations have become than people. It mostly centered around me being mad that a company can steal your land if it can convince your town that that's a good idea. That's called Eminent Domain. Look it up.
The choruses are to the tune of Woody Guthrie's classic "This Land Is Your Land. This Land Is My Land".
The choruses are:
This land was your land. But now it's their land.
They have more money. So they've got more friends.
Your city council gave your land to them.
Now it belongs to a company.
and
This land is Exxon's. This land is WalMart's.
They used their lawyers to take away your part.
For generations it was your family's.
Now it belongs to a company.
