Help needed with a song title

(This should probably be in recordings, but I figured this thread would get more views. Move if required, please.)

I have a song in my collection I can find no title for, or even the artist. I originally got it off a K-Tel album (I thiink) in the early 80s, and recorded along with a bunch of others, it on cassette. I later ripped it to mp3, along with the rest of the tape. Thing is, now I can't remember what the song title is or who it's by. I've tried google searches and lyric searches off and on over the last few years, to no avail. K-Tels site is useless for finding track listings, they only show low res shots of covers, front and back. I can't even remember which album it was on.
I was wondering, if I uploaded it and posted a link to the mp3, or wrote out the lyrics, if any one here might recognize it.
I think it might be from the very late 60s to early 70s.

The chorus goes like this:

And the rain keeps falling
from the clouds in the Canada Sky,
and they found it together
but they never knew the reason why,
some fool with a gun shot the sun from the Canada....
sky.

Any help?
Thx.
