Help in playing lead guitar for "the man who sold the world" (nirvana)

Sign in to disble this ad
I know the WHOLE thing and I was very proud of myself
(I suck so bad at guitar), but I cannot sing it and play at the same time at the part "who knows not me, we never lost control...". So whats a chord or something I could play instead?

Thanks.

I play this song often in acoustic duo/full band situations, it can be tricky to pull off, I would recommend working on your scales. The part, I feel, is fairly integral to the song. Are you playing the C progression with open notes? I find it much easier to run with 5's on the previous string.
It's muscle memory - scales, scales, scales. Cyberfret.com: Basic guitar scales: Open Position

According to someone on the internet it goes like this:

C.............F
Who knows? Not me

..C#...............C
I never lost control

Try looking it up on google: "the man who sold the world chords", for slightly other results , if this is not right (havn't checked it).

By the way it's a cover, the original is David Bowie.

Play that run over and over and over and then one more time.

Thanks guys. I understand how important it is, and I can play it. I just can't sing and play that part. And also I'm not sure how Kurt tuned/where he played cause I did it by ear, but I'm tuned a half-step down and then on top of that I play in drop-d (and the d string would also be tuned a half step down). So my tuning is: C# G# C# F# A# D#
