Question Help selecting gear

Sign in to disble this ad
Can anyone help me with some gear pricing? I am getting my own bass in about 2 months (renting one now) and i don't really know where to look for this kind of stuff.

5-string bass, i'm not sure what kind but i want a decent one, help choosing a brand or model here would be appreaciated. Im going to be playing mostly rock and some metal on this. I want a neck with a smaller neck and strings that are closer together because i dont slap or pop and i have small hands.

Amp, not really sure what kind because i don't know that much about them, it dosent have to be that good an amp but i want it to be durable and loud.

Wireless receiver for bass/amp, i am always getting tangled up in the cable because i move alot when i play.

About how much would stuff like this run me, i am looking for about the 2-4 hundred dollar price range.

thanks if you could help

I suggest you check craigslist.org in your area.

See what you find and come back to TB with some stuff you like and post it to get some opinions on it.

Peavey amps are pretty cheap used and usually durable and loud.

There are lots of good deals out there right now.

I have been playing Ibanez from the start. They have the most comfortable necks and bodies Ive ever played. The necks are nice and thin great for smaller hands. You can pick up a Ibanez GSR 205 for about 250-300. For your range Id cut the wireless out until you get a head unit and cab and set up a nice rig and all. For an amp to get started up on id also recommend a Peavey combo.

The Cort stuff made in Korea is pretty good - they make stuff under the Squier/Fender, Epiphone and Ibanez names too. I played some in Abu Dhabi recently and was well impressed.

They also make the Hohner B Bass series (4, 5 & 6) - I have a 5 and it's more than Good Enough - narrower neck, tighter string spacing which suits my smaller hand - YMMV.
