Here is a stupid idea for string cleaning.

Brake Clean/Carb cleaner.

That stuff takes anything and everything off.

Now, dead strings are caused by gunk that kill the natural harmonics of the string itself, correct?

Boiling gets a day or two more out of them... just gets the surface gunk off of them...

But carb cleaner might be able to get deep inside and truely get all of it out....

A liquid flossing of sorts.

I'm going to try it soon.

I've heard and read that denatured alcohol works extremely well. Just let it sit in it for about 12-20 hours. You can do it as often as you want and it supposedly makes them pretty much as good as new. Just don't try and drink it or anything like that. Avoid eye contact and such too.
