I have a question for you guys, I can't decide, so I need the opinion of you guys.

Who sounds better with Deep Purple, Steve Morse, or Ricthie Blackmoure?

They are both awesome, what do you guys think?

- Felix

edit: I know it isn't bass related, but those guitarists are awesome!

You kidding me? Blackmore defines Deep Purple.

Nothing against Morse but, in DP it's either Blackmore or it ain't DP.

Not really fair to ask, because Blackmore wasn't the only person to change. The Mark II lineup was the best (that's Machine Head era isn't it?) regardless of who that includes.

Steve Morse IMO is a better guitarist. But Blackmore whipped out the most recognizable rock anthem ever (SOTW) and for that, he is better overall.

Blackmore by a mile...despite Morse being the far superior musician/guitarist.

A better question may have been Tommy Bolin or Morse.

I also think that, while Steve Morse is a great guitarist, Blackmore was the one who defined Deep Purple. And he is terrific, also! "Made In Japan" is one of the best live rock albums ever made and he really shines there. BTW, have you seen this? It was posted in another thread. Blackmore's magic in action at the end of the song!

As for the Gillan/Coverdale debate, I've never understood what's so great about David Coverdale. To me, the real singer of MK III was Glenn Hughes.

What are you doin'...trying out your material here.

A better question may have been Rod Evans or David Coverdale.

DP at best - Coverdale, Hughes, Blackmore, Lord, Paice. Made In Europe remains one of my favourite live albums ever (although Made In Japan is pretty darn close!).
