Hi Everyone!
I finally got around to posting some pics of my new guitar!

This is a guitar that i pieced together from several sources, I picked up the body off ebay, it was something very special to me because when i was in my early pre-guitar years (when i was 5-6) my dad (who plays guitar) used to always go to the guitar store and chat with his friends that worked there, and i usually went with him...anyways, i always wanted to play guitar back then, and then i found a guitar called the "terminator". to everyone today, its a cheap 45 dollar guitar from a company now owned by mattel, but back then, to a 6 year old, it was the most rock-n-roll guitar that was my size and the built-in speaker meant that we wouldn't need an amp (which meant more $$).
anyways, i never forgot about the guitar, and last semester, i found that body on ebay...granted this one appeared to be an upgraded body of the one that i had seen, which was cool...i snapped it up for 40 bucks...

then i got a hold of kurt at rondomusic, who had some replacement guitar necks for sale, so i snapped up one of those for 40 bucks as well i was happy about this because the neck pocket was slightly larger than the standard neck pocket of a fender type neck (which was good for me, because i like a wide fretboard for guitar...the closer to classical, the better) and it only required sanding down about a small fraction on an inch, and it fit very snug...

the last thing i needed was the tuners for the neck, and the good folks at talkbass came through...i was hoping to keep my budget under 100 bucks, so i put up a want ad here on tb, and my good friend Don (sorry i forgot what your username was ) came through with some black carvin tuners that he was willing to let go for cheap...A big thank you to Don in fact...with a little drilling help from my friend Jeff, we got the tuners in perfectly, and it all looks great imo!

so, enough of my talking, here are some pics! for someone doing their first guitar project with cheap parts, i think it really turned out great...dig the black body with the red trim (i had nothing to do with that )

just thought i'd show some detail of that red trim, and also showcase the smudges on the body

the only thing i might fix later on is to get another bridge...i don't know how i'm going to do that, so it may not happen

Thanks for looking!

Very nice! I especially like the red trim on the black. That's sexy.

And what's with the 2 jacks?

yep...it takes two 9V batteries

the two jacks? i don't really know...my guess right now is the one closest to the rear is for the amp, and the other one sounds the same only a bit quiter, so it might be a headphone out...

how does it play?
well, the action is a touch high, but that can be lowered, but as far as playability and sound, i really like it...the speaker is cool, but i think the wattage for the speaker is less than the built-in amp, so i can get some nice overdrive, and for a sound, when i play the neck pickup, and roll back the tone knob, imagine "sunshine of your love" by cream...very nice
plugged in it sounds very good...granted its not going to sound like a 2000 dollar gibson or PRS, but it stands up there with higher end SX or mid grade ibanez
I really appreciate the built-in amp, it really in nice to have in the dorms when i don't feel like plugging in a whole bunch of amps and effects and such, and i can just turn it on and go
I can also take it outside and on full batteries, it can get quite loud! (for its size)

thanks for all the comments guys!
