That "high" feeling

Sign in to disble this ad
I remember when I was just a beginner and I was playing in my room. It was overcast outside I didn't have the lights on in my room and it was aproaching dusk which gave this very grey dismal feeling to the room. I was just fooling around not knowing what I was doing, but I got this feeling like I was doing something awsome. As soon as I got that feeling I got this out of the body experience where I felt really floaty but like I was looking at myself from behind. And no I do not drink or do drugs.

have also had this feeling happen to them and some of them say that it usually happends when they are playing live. I was just wondering if any of you guys get this experience and if you do when does it usually happen for you. Also is it the same as what I describe or different. I haven't had this feeling in a long time and am actually kind of jonesing for it.

I feel that whenever I play live...but its normally the pot smoke in the air.

Ive felt it whenever I stumble upon something really cool while practicing.

Nope, never felt that in 14 years of playing out. I always had the slight adrenaline rush before the first song, after that, it was business as usual.

Another experience is the drooling on yourself when you are in the "Zone."

I had been playing for YEARS, even been in a bunch of bands- but the first time I ever got this total rush was during the day long break between Basic Training and AIT in the Army. I hadn't played anything for 8-9 weeks, but get a bunch of 'cruits in a recreation hall room with crappy, beat up instruments and you're sure to have an obnoxious time. I always say the first time I actually felt like I was "making music" was playing a really crappy rendition of "Johnny B. Goode" with a bunch of strangers who I'd never met before and never met again, and we were all out of practice and crappy. But it ruled.
