Hello everyone,

I was talking to a few friends today about a song which required a 6-string bass, and I was looking for the 4-string tab, and one of my friends suggested getting a Hipshot. He said it's a thing with a switch that I can flip to changing the tunning of the bass. I was wondering, can my standard tuning bass EADG drop a perfect 4th to BEAD?
And what kind of detuners would you suggest? Or would you just suggest a new 6 string bass?

Your friend was talking about the Hipshot detuner. I think the official name is bass xtender. What it does is it lets you flip a lever on the tuner and that string will drop a wholestep. Very handy for going from regular tuning to drop D tuning. You won't be able to drop a whole fourth though, and even if you could I can't imagine how floppy the strings would be.

and even if it could drop a 4th, there is only room on most headstocks for 1 of them
