Hitting the pickups

When i play frequently i hit my pickups scratching them... to solve this i tried to tune the guitar more sharp and play in other parts of the bass and lighter... I do not like to do this can i do anything els??

The pickups should have screws holding them in place...usually adjusting them will raise/lower the height of the pickup..try that.
