It appears to be just a small tour, and I didn't even know about it until just now. I may fly to NYC for this.
It appears that KC has added a new member: Gavin Harrison, the drummer for Porcupine Tree. Sick! Quote:

| Is anybody here going?
EDIT: Eeek! Tickets for the New York shows are $60 each! Three tickets at $60 each (plus fees... damn you Ticketmaster!), plus $200 for a plane ticket... I just may have to do it anyway. I'm sure I could just crash at Major Metal's place and eat all his chicken pot pies...

Well, it's official, I will never see KC live.

I read an interview with Adrian Belew where he said they won't be playing any new material on this tour, just seeing how the chemistry works, and then if there is interest he & Robert Fripp will start writing material for a new album in Spring '09. Quote:

Ah, boo. Well, that at least makes me feel better about my decision to not fly up there to catch it. |

| | | | I feel KC really needs to shake up the line up, with all new people other than Fripp, of coarse.
Fripp needs to move KC on and leave behind the syncopated music from the last 15 years.
Lp's like Lizard, Islands & Wake Of Poseidon for example. All drastically different from each other. |

Thrakk was very different from the 80's incarnation (although it wasn't very good), and The Power To Believe is quite a bit different than their previous stuff (and a great record).
For the record, I don't really care much for Lizard nor Islands. |

After the $60 cover fee, I ended up paying an extra $25 (I think) more via everyone's favorite online ticket outlet. So, this summer it was $100 for Rush and, if I remember correctly, $85 for King Crimson. Daaaaaamn. But, I've never seen T-Lev live in concert before, so I'm excited.

I do agree that there's a sense of stagnation or rote formula about their last two studio albums; in a rather gross sense the only difference between The ConstruKction of Light and The Power To Believe is that the former sucked. But if they'd just never released The ConstruKction of Light I think their discography over the past 15 years would looks like a band constantly evolving.

| I agree, I should have added that, seeing they were pretty much the same band. era of KC, in my eyes as well. I liked Lizard. Islands was mediocre to me.
While I do agree Fripp has shaken up the line up in the last couple of years (also agree the CD's were just O.K., had some bright spots), Fripp seems to locked into the ultra syncopated type of music.
I think he needs to abandon his music formulas that are wearing thin to me, and plant some new seeds. |

I saw the last Chicago show. They were solid but you could tell that they hadn't played together a lot. Fripp has now moved to stage right and sits behind his rack, and didn't join the band for bows. Typical. Levin was sick.

Levin is awesome...I think that they had way too few rehearsals. I always disliked drum solos because of the time they take...we could always have more songs. But Krimson is awesome always. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
