Title says it all. In another thread someone brought up how they came across TalkBass and it made me remember how I did.
I was searching for new pick guards for my P-Bass and came across a TB thread in which someone asked "how do you change a pick guard" to which someone replied with a picture of a screwdriver.
And I was hooked.
What's your story? |

| | | | I was searching around the net looking for bass player specific forums and I stumbled upon TB. I'm grateful that I have. It's still the best imo. |

| | | | I found out about ghost note and other drum forums through my work (all-star drums) and decided to search for a bass forum. TB! |

I've had a very good experience with other internet forums (car detailing, saab repair, camping, photo editing, photography equipment). Nowadays, when I start something new, I look for an internet forum.
All internet forums come with quirky personalities (the know-it-all, the jerk, the bully, the you-must-respect-me veteran, the jokers etc.) At some point, passionate discussions will become personal - some forums are better than others for avoiding this. I always learn something along the way so I keep coming back.

I'd already been active in several other forums (Baen books, dpreview (cameras), and a few devoted to specific sf/fantasy authors) and figured that, as I was getting back into playing bass, seeing if there was a forum would be an early step. I visit several but at the moment TB is the one I'm on the most.

We got talking and I asked him a question about a particular EBMM model - he said he didn't know but "maybe the guys on Talkbass would." So I found the site. I still see him posting on here from time to time.

That and I cussed out the mods on that forum for not playing fair, so I was kind of forced to reside here.

| | | | I was googling like mad trying to figure out what bass this brand-new beginner should get and I'm sure glad I found it. I really like how all styles, skill levels, and interests are here; and it's kept me inspired to practice and try new things. Found some great new bands to listen to too.
BTW, my main instrument since forever is the piano and I haven't found a forum for that as remotely as awesome. Any suggestions? | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
